Alderman Howard B. Brookins
Alderman Howard B. Brookins was elected Alderman of the 21st Ward in April 2003 and is currently in his second term. Alderman Brookins continues a tradition of public service in the footsteps of his father, Former State Senator Howard B. Brookins Sr. The Alderman has had a distinguished career in the public sector, serving as an Assistant Public Defender, Assistant State’s Attorney and Special Assistant Attorney General. He is currently a partner in the Brookins and Wilson Law Firm.
Alderman Brookins is a graduate of Mendel Catholic High School, Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and Northern Illinois University Law School. He participates in a number of committees and organizations including Trinity United Church of Christ, Prince Hall Mason Eureka Lodge #64, Board of Directors of the Community Media Workshop, Board of Directors of the NIU Alumni Association, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated.
Howard Brookins Jr. is a long-time resident of the City of Chicago and is committed to improving the quality of life for the area he serves. In conducting business, Alderman Brookins does so with integrity and is fair and equitable.
Alderman Brookins has addressed the key issues of crime, economic development and employment opportunities. In his first term he has promoted community events and built trust and rapport. He has shown dedication and commitment to his constituents by listening to their concerns and demonstrating that he can be a conduit for innovative ideas to improve the quality of life for residents of his Ward.
Alderman Brookins Jr. is a devoted husband to Ebonie Taylor-Brookins and proud father of Howard B. Brookins III and Harihson Bilal Brookins.
